as by the catalan government has given to Castellers de Vilafranca the Saint George’s Cross, the most important award. The group has won the human towers championship for 11 times, and is leading the scene since 1995.

The group was founded in 1948, due to the fact that human tower tradition had been strongly rooted and followed in Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona) in the 18th century.

Group members are freely and voluntarily part of the team, with no difference in age, social class, or political, cultural and religious beliefs. We are all united by the same goal: building human towers, and by the group’s democratic values: cooperation, team-work, constant overcoming will and the aim of keeping on being at the summit of the casteller world.
